Indian Head
Indian Head Gold Coins were minted from 1907 to 1933 to replace the US $10, $5 and $2.50 Liberty gold coins. The $20 Indian head does not exist as this denomination was set aside to be designed as an international symbol of democracy and is known today as the $20 St Gaudens.
Indian Gold Coins have become a favorite among collectors for there appearance and rarity. Saint Gaudens also designed the $10 Indian head gold coin, but it was Bela Lyon Pratt that designed the $5 and $2.50 Indian gold coins that featured a real Indian dressed in full feathers. Gold investors and collectors alike value not only the gold content of these gold coins, but the historical relevance of the Native American Indian as a symbol of strength and perseverance.
