$20 St Gaudens Gold Coin Double Eagle

St Gaudens Gold coins received their name after the American sculptor Augustus Saint Gaudens. The design that appears on the St Gaudens coins are inspired by one of his very own designs. The design, hence the coins, are famous for their beauty and aesthetic value. They are a favorite of many investors who invest in rare gold coins.

The recently minted $20 St Gaudens coin was ready to be circulated in the year 1907, but the inscription that said "In God We Trust" was omitted. Apparently, the president did not wish the name of Lord to appear on that which was to be passed around brothels, saloons, gambling halls, which would make it close to sacrilege. However, it met with a lot of opposition eventually.
